FOR ARIE
With this program we commemorate founder of the ensemble, designer and first player of the Stratifier, composer and video-artist Arie van Schutterhoef
The
Schreck Ensemble is one of the oldest ensembles for electro-acoustic
music in the Netherlands. It defines its artistic mission as the
deepening and enlarging of the listening experience of the audience, timbre is in this the guiding principle.
From the start, beginning of the 90's, the use of technique, electronic
amplification, computers and live-electronic has been important
recourses. New electronic instruments as the ‘Stratifier’ have been
designed and built by us.
In our view the colour of sounds and music can assume almost
magical qualities. When the characteristics and nuances of sounds,
melodies and harmonies take on new dimensions, when the whole hall is
made to resonate, we travel beyond the normal limits of our perception
in listening to music. This fascination with all aspects of sound is
what drives us; we invite the listener to venture with us on a journey
through unfamiliar soundscapes.
